Expanding following client gains

Boston Fieldgate Commercial Property Advisors

One of the West Midlands’ best known commercial property advisors has strengthened his company’s offer with the appointment of three business advisors – in response to a growing client base and an improved property market.

At the same time, Boston Fieldgate is becoming an incorporated company – sixteen years after it was founded by Charles Smith. The company’s registered office is being relocated to Clearwater Business Park – a Boston Fieldgate client – whilst the business will also retain its office in Kenilworth.

The move follows a clutch of client gains for the Warwickshire-based business including most recently a major charity organisation with a large retail property portfolio in the West Midlands.

Roger Allen becomes chairman of Boston Fieldgate Limited; Lianne Bishop is appointed company secretary and Arran Jones becomes finance advisor as part of the new line-up.

Mr Allen is a specialist in strategic and financial growth management and chairman of Clearwater Group of which Lianne Bishop is also company secretary. Arran Jones is also a director at Birmingham-based Michael Dufty Partnership and is a specialist in corporate finance advising on business strategies, acquisitions and funding opportunities.

“Our broader team offer will enable Boston Fieldgate to more readily respond to client needs particularly in the areas of strategic portfolio management. We have a varied client base but are particularly adept at supporting companies, partnerships and individuals with property portfolios who benefit not only from specialist property management but also strategic business input geared to maximising property returns,” said Mr Smith. This development follows significant client gains including one of the top 10 UK Universities.

“We will continue to offer conventional property consultancy services including acquisitions and disposals, site search, development viability studies, business rates reviews, rent reviews, lease renewals as well as corporate and asset management.

“We are also delighted to be supporting a well respected West Midlands-based charity that has a number of commercial and retail property interests where controlling costs is paramount.

Our services for them include advising on rent reviews, lease renewals and acquisitions on a property portfolio that extends across Central England.”

Mr Smith said that his company’s strength lay in becoming closely involved in a client’s business.

“We offer hands on and dedicated support. Many clients have been with us since the early days of the consultancy and we have extended our reach beyond Birmingham – which remains an important focus – to the wider Midlands area.

“After wages, property is often the most significant cost to a business. Managing costs and liabilities is fundamental. Similarly, for landlords, it’s vitally important to keep on top of issues such as lease renewals, rent reviews and lease re-structuring. Just recently, we were approached by one occupier  who  had lost £75,000 as a result of missing a break clause time-critical date. It takes a lot of business to recover that,” added Mr Smith.
