We seek to minimise our carbon footprint and impact on the environment wherever possible. In 2009 we decided to “go paperless” – traumatic at the time as you can imagine but having made the commitment the benefits are considerable. It is virtually impossible to be totally paperless but we are 95% there. All our filing and archiving is electronic. Even in a small practice the savings on paper and consumables are significant. Ignoring our time to “scan” all the paper our payback was under 6 months and being uncluttered on our desks enables us to focus on working for our clients.
We recycle all our paper once shredded to Kenilworth based Chinasearch who use it for packing the crockery they send all over the world, our ink cartridges go back to the manufactures and we use a local charity Cord to recycle our old mobiles for reuse in countries affected by civil wars and conflict. What stationary we use is printed by local printers Emmerson on 100% recycled paper and we seek to avoid unnecessary duplication and optimise car journeys for appointments and use public transport or “shanks pony” where appropriate. Why? – because it makes both economic and environmental sense.
